Grilled potatoes - step-by-step instructions

Potatoes are soooooooo boring. That really is their point – to be a bland, comfortingly inoffensive background to everything – as everything does go well with them. But grilled potatoes – these are scintillating, worthy of being the focal point of a dish – and so simple, so easy, so cheap!

Potatoes, which we boiled whole and sliced, and have gently oiled


  • Preheat the grill
  • Season the potatoes with a little salt. Add a splash more oil if you like
  • Grill the potatoes over a medium-high heat until well browned on both sides
  • Serve sprinkled with a little extra salt

ENJOY! These potatoes are great with a sauce (salsa verde or bagna caoda or bagnet ross, for example) – or outside of Italy, romesco or mojo rojo or verde. They are sublime with grilled lamb or grilled octopus or grilled chicken. Or anything, really.
